Unfortunately, on November 1, 2013, the 36-year old building which houses the business was destroyed by an electrical fire. Current owner Jay Weaver, who took over the business from his parents James and Bessie Weaver, decided to re-build the 5,000 square foot building and re-start the business.
The Weavers originally built their home in the area before Lake Anna existed, but their property turned out to be within walking distance of the lake after 1972. The couple decided to make their home here, close to family and they felt it was a good place to raise children. After building a garage in Richmond and commuting back to the lake daily, James decided to build Weaver Auto Services, Inc. literally in their own backyard.
Jay Weaver took an early interest in working at the garage with his father since he was very young.
Eventually, he owned and operated Auto Tech on Route 208 in Spotsylvania for more than 12 years. For the past six, he has taken the reigns at Weaver Auto Services.
The fire was a huge wake up call for the family and they’ve taken provisions to ensure this type of loss won’t happen again. Nearly everything there was destroyed – equipment, computers, stored files, tools and much more. Now, Jay and his wife Melissa plan to regularly back up customer files and record and store them away from the location.
Local customers will be happy to see Weaver Auto up and running again and enjoy the convenience of automotive repairs and service for your vehicles, Virginia state inspections and they are now offering marine repairs and service. Call today to set up your appointment! 540-895-5492.
